INVESTING IN EQUITY

In the last blog post I talked about this financial crisis being a good opportunty for equity investments,investments in gold and silver, a first or second home and to do your assets allocation. Of course there is no right or wrong time to start saving regularly before investing it.
Now here I assume that you have decided what amount you want ot invest in equity as a percentage of your assets and your planned allocation for it every month. Once this is done you need to start looking at selecting the right stocks to invest.
Some guideline criteria
1. Look for stocks with no or less debts from the companies whose business you understand
2. Better still if these have a sizeable cash reserve.
3. The stock should be liquid enough
4. Lower PE and PEG of less than one
5. Preferably dividend paying with consisitent record of dividend payouts.
6.I recommend the beginners to go for well known and high quality blue chips from well managed business houses with high corporate governance and manageemnt.
Once you have selected the stocks, make a small purchase of it as this will help you follow it up better and then invest systematically in the same stocks both on dips and at regular intervals.

Not a good thing to begin with an apology, but it is absolutely warranted. It has been over a year that I have not written any posting on the blog. Excuses are many but the main reason is laziness, the secondary reason is the lack of response from the viewers to the web site as well as the blog.

I intend to write on the blog more frequently and requesting for your participation by way of questions or feedback and comments.
Last year has been one of "once in life time" type of financial crisis for all. It started with mortgages and new financial instruments which attracted even professionals, not calculating and assessing the risk associated with these. On another level the psychological factor of excessive greed to multiply the money faster and make a fast buck was responsible for it. thanks to the experience of last recession governments were quick with the bail outs and recovery though slow and accompanied by high volatality in the markets is likely to be sooner than before.
That is where appears to be an opportunity of sorts for many to enter gradually on dips in selected equity for the long term. Secondly for those who need to review and balance their portfolios and asset allocation,this is a good opportunity. Thirdly it is a good time to start saving and investing regularly too.Systematic investments in selected equity will give good returns despite the volatality in the markets. For those who have been averse to investing in metals in general and gold and silver in particular this is a good opportunty to begin investing in.Those looking to buy their first or second homes too will find the time suitable.

WHERE TO START AND WHEN ?

I thought I must share with you some of the mails received from friends which may represent a common need hence this blog post.
One says "I have been kicking myself for a long now for not doing my Financial Planning" and another states "my pension is 10k, annual income about 200000 , where and how do I start."
I am sure many will be wanting to ask such questions
Firstly, I will recommend you to make up your mind and start with a paper and pencil and follow the process given step by step on the Financial Planning page.If you get stuck any where, go to my blog and post it as comment or querry. I promise to answer soon or if that does not suit you send me a mail.
For the second type my submission is you need a lot more to know abut you to make your plans and since I don't know enough why not follow the process and then seek help in case of any querry.
I hope that helps please remember that the resistance is normal and earlier you get down to your planning and gain control over your personal/ family finances better it is for you and your family. Seek their help if required but begin you must!!!!

It has been only a few days since I started sending emails to the people I know to seek their support.Thanks a ton !! your support has been very encouraging. Thanks specially to those who wrote in with" topos" and suggestions.
A few points to clarify, while I improve the format for becoming a member please send me a mail with your name, address and tel nos to help me compile the data and inform you when new posts are written.
The membeship is free for all but dont forget to write in with your querries, comments and feedback on the blog to make it more interactive and useful to all.

It was proposed to start regular postings on the blog by 15th Apr, this has been delayed a little to get some time to rework on the web site.
I expect the work to be over soon and shall then start regular posts by early May once the web site and blog links have been communicated to all.

FINANCIAL FREEDOM AS A CONCEPT

How many of us are lucky enough to have jobs which are our passion, hobbies or interrsts close to our hearts?
not very many I guess! reasons are many , for one when we decide to select our subjects for education we dont always give the above concerns very hih priority. Second even if we did that any job tends to get boring which is some thing unavoidable.
what can we do?
aim to achieve our financial freedom as early as possible so that we can spend as many years as possible of the balance of our lives doing what we are passionate about.
I am starting a community with exactly this aim in mind to help more people learn from each other and achieve their financial freedom.
This Blog will be teh sahring platform for the achievers and the aspirants to share their views and learn from each other.
